Davidian Tragedy - Letter from United States Senate to Rick Ross Dated November 19, 1993

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the federal investigation into the raid initialed earlier this year on the Branch Davidian compound near Waco, Texas.

At the direction of President Clinton, the Treasury Department and the Justice Department both conducted extensive investigations into this case. As you may know, the Treasury Department's report criticized Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms officials for basing the operation "on seriously flawed assumptions." The Justice Department's report also acknowledges that authorities made mistakes, but concluded that the ultimate responsibility for the fire lies with the Branch Davidians themselves.

I am hopeful that through these investigations, something can be learned so that we can avoid similar situations in the future.
